Nobody Cares What You Post in Facebook!
OK, that’s not entirely true. But a great majority of posts are never even seen by your fans because they’ve fallen off the radar screen. The only way to make sure that they see what you post is to keep them engaged right from the moment they become fans on your page.
We have to figure out what our fans really want and make sure we give it to them, repeatedly. And, it’s probably a good idea to make sure that what ever it is that we’re giving to them is in some way related to our products or services. For example, if your business is in selling tickets to sporting events it’s a great idea to give away tickets to a game to get new fans and keep them engaged. If you’re an antiques dealer (unless you specialize in sports antiques)… it probably wouldn’t be your best choice.
Let’s look at it from another angle. Say your business is a tree service in Orlando, FL. You run a contest to give away tickets to Disney World with hotel, travel for a family of four for a week. Anyone can enter as long as they’re a fan on your Facebook page. You advertise the contest and get 10,000 fans on your page. That’s super! Unfortunately… only 15 of them live in the Orlando metropolitan area and none of those 15 would need a tree service in the forseeable future. So, while you were able to attract fans to your page… there’s very little chance you could ever convert any of them into customers.
Take the same tree service, in Orlando and run and simply offer 20% off for Facebook Fans. Say you only get 20 new fans this way. But… 10 of them call you and mention the 20% off… and you’re able to sell your services to 5 of them.
Keeping them involved on the page is even more of a challenge. We all want to think that our fans really care about our business pages. In real life, however, even our close family members probably aren’t visiting our pages with any regularity unless we do some good, targeted postings every day.
Every time you post on your Facebook page you should aim at achieving one of the following objectives:
- A Post Like
- A Post Comment
- A Post Share
- A Click To YOUR Website
