Website Evaluation – Again

We were asked to evaluate a site for a local small business the other day.  www.elderserviceplan.org  They were looking for a price to make it more friendly to search engines and get it found.  Of course, they want more site visitors, more clients…  more!

The first thing we noticed was that there were no social media links, no mobile version and no blog.  The site was more or less an online brochure talking about their services.  The layout was good but it really lacked information, in fact…  there were only 10 pages on the entire site and keywords were nowhere to be found in the actual text or page headings.  No calls to action on any page could be found either.

Blogs are no longer just online personal journals – they are now key business tools. Blogs allow you to engage in a conversation with your customers while improving your website’s search engine rank. Blogging is the best way there is to reach your target audience with the useful, educational information they’re out there looking for.  Companies that blog get 55% more web traffic and 70% more leads than those that don’t?

We looked at the Alt text on some of their images.  While most of the photos had the names of the individuals in them there were absolutely none of the sites keywords to be found.  The internal pages of the site all had the same page descriptions and keywords too.

So…  our recomendation was a complete redesign of the current site to include a blog with unique and interesting content that was keyword rich, optimize and promote the new site using social media and e-mail marketing and install and use some type of site analytics to measure successful posts and failures.
